"And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." - John 8:2 NLT

Today is Flag Day, a day on which Americans around the nation commemorate the American flag. There will be parades and speeches. Flags will fly with national pride in all fifty states.

The red stands for bravery.

The white, purity.

The blue, liberty.

As the symbolism of the American flag brings to mind your freedom as an American, think upon your freedom in Christ as well. Grace has been given to us as a free gift. We could never earn it or deserve it, but Jesus died for our sins on the cross. Knowing the truth of the Gospel sets you free!

YOU ARE FREE TO LIVE AN ABUNDANT LIFE IN CHRIST, AND YOU HAVE BEEN GRANTED ETERNAL LIFE.

Certainly God has set before us commandments and statutes that we should follow. They are laws that will keep us healthy and at peace. They are for our best interest, for the Bible promises that God does not withhold any good and perfect gift from His own.

But there is so much freedom in Jesus. Exercise your freedom as an American, and neglect not your freedom in Christ. Express your love and appreciation to Him today for saving you.

LET'S PRAY:

Lord, I am thankful for America and that You have placed me in this country where I have so many freedoms as a citizen. I am also a citizen of Your kingdom. Thank You for my freedom in Christ! Amen.
