If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him? - Luke 11:13

Today is the day set aside for honoring fathers. It may be a joyful or painful day. Depending on the relationship you have had with your earthly father, you may look forward to this holiday or you may dread it. The good news is that whether or not your earthly father has played a positive role in your life (or any role at all), you have a heavenly Father who loves you with a deep, unconditional love!

Perhaps you grew up in a home without a father's presence due to death or divorce. Maybe your father led your family well in many ways but fell short when it came to spiritual matters. If you have a good relationship with your father, celebrate him today by telling him just how much he means to you!

You may wish to write him a letter or make a phone call. If you had conflicts with your father, perhaps today is the day that you can set those feelings aside and find a way to forgive.

Every father--child relationship is different. You may not even know who your earthly father is, but you know the Father of all fathers.

You are God's child now.

Let's pray:

Abba Father, thank You for earthly fathers and the great impact they can have on our lives. Thank you most all for being our heavenly Father who loves us beyond our human comprehension. Amen.
