Read:

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. — John 1:14 ESV

Reflect:

The question came from the back seat, “What’s your favorite Jesus story?” Although the missive was directed at me, the seven year old continued the conversation with himself. “I know. It’s ALL of them.” Giggling, the reply on my tongue slowed to silence. Hmm, what is my favorite Jesus story?

There are plenty to choose from.  Every page of the Bible is a Jesus story, rich in wisdom and truth, but some pull me a teeny tiny bit more than others. As His friends attempt crowd control, He encourages littles to come alongside Him. How He makes alone time with the Father a priority. He calms a storm with authority and mercy, pulls a doubting Thomas close, talks with the Father and Holy Spirit about making man in Their image. Weary and drained, He parries the devil’s jabs with Scripture memorization. When He asks the Father for another way to redeem us yet remains obedient, then a few hours later tells Judas to follow through on His betrayal. His reminder He is bringing us all home. There are so many really good choices. The more I think about it though, my favorite Jesus story isn’t one mentioned here. My favorite Jesus story is happening right now. Immanuel, God with us, walks each of us through every minute of today. The Word became flesh matches the pace of our days. Yep, that’s my favorite Jesus story.

Pray:

Father, Your Word is full of Jesus stories. Thank You for giving me the truth, hope and peace found in those pages that reflect so much of Who You are. I love You. Amen.

Your turn:
