Read:

Then God said, “Son of man, I am giving you this scroll. Swallow it! Let that scroll fill your body.” So I ate the scroll. It was as sweet as honey in my mouth. — Ezekiel 3:3 ERV

Reflect:

The year was 1993 and her palms were sweating. She’s in front of the school, reciting a chapter of Proverbs verse by verse. She’s allowed three mistakes or she’d need to try again next week. You can see her thinking to herself before speaking. During the next two years, every Friday, she’d recite Proverbs one chapter at a time. Fast forward twenty-five years later to a dimly lit room. She lays bedridden, slipping in and out of consciousness, mumbling. If you lean closer, you catch a few words. Proverbs. She’s uttering snippets of Proverbs.

If you asked me for a book quote from last week, I’d struggle. Some words may resonate, over time they’ll fade. But His word is eternal. The Bible is unlike any other tome; it sticks to your bones. When you read, copy, sing, interact with it at all, the Holy Spirit interacts with you. It’s incredible. We’re able to read the words as the Word reads us. Knowing more of Him through His word turns our wonder to worship. His word meets us. You know what I mean. Those moments when you’re in a situation and a verse pops in your head. It’s not random a sentence or two is at the forefront of your mind. It’s Him. So taste and see Him through His pen. Take advantage of words that are “as sweet as honey” in whatever today looks like.

Pray:

Father, Your words are mighty, You remain mightier. Plant a desire to know more of You through the Bible deep into my heart. I love You so much! Amen.

Your turn:

Pick a verse in the Bible you love. Read it aloud to yourself a few times. Now read it slowly. Write it down. Memorize it.

Read it to someone else. Post it on social media. Spread the Word through your words today.
