Read:

God’s word is alive and working. It is sharper than the sharpest sword and cuts all the way into us. It cuts deep to the place where the soul and the spirit are joined. God’s word cuts to the center of our joints and our bones. It judges the thoughts and feelings in our hearts. —Hebrews 4:12 ERV

Reflect:

The Bible is placed in her hands. She pulls it close, “This is a Bible?!” She has heard of it, but never been given one. She gently turns the pages. Her nose in the Good Book, she mumbles with wonder in her voice, “God wrote this?”

As followers of Christ, we have great ways to find wisdom. Prayer and letting your community into your life are a few. Sometimes, though, I forget what I’m looking for can be found in the Bible. The Bible does not replace God, it helps Him come alive to us. In it, He speaks through countless others so we could know Him more. Thousands of years of faithfulness, mercy, grace, redemption, judgment, truth, forgiveness and freedom are lovingly penned into those sixty-six books.

The best thing about the Bible? It is not about us. The Old and New Testament combine to direct us to Jesus. The Father wrote it, Jesus is the Hero, and the Holy Spirit helps us understand it. We meet the Triune God through the pages of the Bible. As followers of Christ, we can trust Him at His word while reading His words at the same time. What a God y’all!

Pray:

Father, Thank You for the opportunity to know more of You through the words You’ve written. You are the Best Thing. Amen.

Your turn:

What is your favorite part about the Bible? What could you tell others about how He’s interacted with you through His Word?
