Read:

At daybreak, Lord, You hear my voice; at daybreak I plead my case to You and watch expectantly. Psalm 5:3 HCSB

Reflect:

Why is it so important to start our day with prayer? There are so many mornings where I hit the snooze button multiple times, only to jump out of bed, step on a few legos, throw clothes on my child and get to work happy if I don't have anything on inside out. Mornings can be hectic, but throughout the chaos of it all, there is nothing more important than beginning our days with prayer.

I think that many times, we forget not only the importance of prayer, but the effectiveness of prayer as well. We look at it as a duty, rather than looking at prayer as a communication with our creator, who will empower us, through the Holy Spirit to not only get through our day, but will enable us to glorify God in the process.

We need to make prayer a priority, for several reasons.  First off, beginning our day with prayer gives us a heavenly mindset.  When we pray in the morning, our days have began with our Father in mind, which helps us to have a Biblical view on anything we may encounter.  Second, prayer in the mornings keeps our minds off of our self and our selfish nature, and brings it back to servant hood, and finally, we begin to have a holy awareness, a reminder we are not our own and we need God in every moment of our days. Whether its 5 minutes or 15, I would challenge you this week sisters, to begin your days in prayer.  Thank God for who He is, and what He has done, and ask Him to keep you focused on Him and glorifying Him throughout each moment of every day.  Wait expectantly, and watch God work.

Pray:

God I love you and thank you for everything you do.  Thank you for sending your Son to die on the cross for my sins.  Help me to begin my days focused on you, so that you may be glorified, in Jesus name, I pray, Amen.

Your Turn:

Do you begin your day in prayer?

Spend the first 5 minutes of your day when you wake up, simply thanking God for another day and new mercies.
