Being Faithful with the Now
Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds. – Proverbs 27:23
What is in front of you today? What’s on the to-do list? There is so much pressing for our time, our energy and our hearts. In all of the noise, how do we discern what is best above what is good? This verse calls us to know the condition of our “flocks.”
Simply put, know the condition of whatever God-given responsibilities are yours today. We have commitments to family, school, work and more and it’s easy to get lost in the thick of it. God is gently reminding us to be faithful with the now and to do it for His glory. As we seek Him first, He will show us what needs care and what needs to be cut.
There is a quiet and beautiful contentment that sneaks in when we stop trying to do many things well and start faithfully giving our primary responsibilities our whole hearts and whole care. Let’s seek God’s order for our days and watch the chaos fade.
Lord, would You prioritize my days and give me an eager heart to live each moment well and for Your glory. Amen.
What is the condition of your “flock?” (marriage, children, school/work commitments etc.)
Have you taken time to seek God for His order of your day/time/commitments?
Is there anything in your life that you have over-committed to that is distracting you from tackling your primary responsibilities? If so, it needs to go.
