"Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised." Proverbs 31:30
Do you believe the lies the culture preaches about us as women? Do you believe our worth is found in making ourselves sexually attractive? That we're worthless if we don't expose various parts of our bodies? Women daily pose seductively and claim empowerment, but where is the power in putting our most intimate selves on display as tools for men to use up? There's no power in that, only slavery...slavery to the attention of men and bondage to the ever evolving quest for "sexy". So many women become entangled as they allow the culture to force-feed them these lies. And with each step, they move further and further from the God who made them.
We are more valuable than our culture claims. We're more than crop tops and cleavage. Friend, you don't need to show your body off to have worth. Worth is found wholly in Christ. Modesty isn't a word set aside for prudes. Modesty reveals itself in a woman who is clothed in Christ. It's the fruit of a heart surrendered to Jesus and what pleases Him. A woman who can reject the culture's lies about how she should look, dress, and act...well, that is true power.
Father, the temptation to follow the flow of the culture can be so very strong. As women, we want to feel beautiful. Help us to see true beauty is revealed in a heart fully devoted to You. Thank You that our worth is found in Christ, and is therefore unchangeable. Help us to clothe ourselves in Him and forsake any clothing or deed that would dishonor Your name. Amen.
Is there anything you need to confess? If so, do so now before the Lord. Read Proverbs 5:1-6.
