Then the Lord said to Moses, “Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a day’s portion every day, that I may test them, whether or not they will walk in My instruction. — Exodus 16:4
The month lasted longer than the paycheck. The grocery bill exceeded the budget. Childcare expenses surpassed the rent. It's not an easy road to travel, yet one that many of us walk.
Isn't it interesting that we can trust God for eternal life, yet find it harder to trust Him for help with the mortgage?
In the Old Testament, God told the wandering Israelites He would feed them "manna from heaven," but with one caveat: He would only allow them to gather enough food for one day. No storing food away for the dreaded "what if's" of tomorrow. They would simply have to trust their God to faithfully supply their needs.
They didn't always pass the "trust test"—and neither do we. But thankfully, God is faithful in spite of us! He will meet our needs when we come to Him in simple trust. Then we can bask in His faithfulness.
Father, Your Word promises to supply all my needs. I trust You in spite of the challenges I see. You are ever faithful. Thank You! Amen.
