Cling to Christ
I cling to you; your strong right hand holds me securely. — Psalm 63:8
These past few weeks have been rather challenging and trying, spiritually. I am aware of the depravity of humanity, but I guess you could say these past few weeks were a sober reminder of just how much we need a savior. From broken marriages, strained friendships, and family betrayal; some who found hope in those very same relationships, while others had no hope at all.
This made me reflect on the times in my own life when my hope was in my husband, my children, my finances, my good works, and the list goes on. And guess what? They never satisfied. They never completed me. Because we were not created to be made complete and find hope in anything but Christ. All the things of this world will pass away, but we must cling to the cross. We must cling to Christ; the One who pulled us up out of the darkness and into His Light.
When our lives are free from chaos and trials it can be easy to place our hope and faith in the temporal things that bring us peace. But everything here on earth in time will turn to dust (Ecc. 3:20). All the treasures of this world will never satisfy. Humans will always let us down. But Christ is our endless joy and our endless hope, and unchanging love that remains when all else fails. Today and always, let us cling to Him, alone.
God of all grace, thank you for Your Son Jesus and His saving work on the cross that gives us hope of an eternal and endless joy that we will only know when we are face-to-face with Him. Help me to cling to Christ every day of my life. Amen.
