Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. — Matthew 5:3-10

Reflect

You are a daughter of the King.

Perhaps it's hard to believe that. You buy some of your clothes at yard sales. Your "chariot" has quite a few miles on it. Your house doesn't look like a castle and it needs remodeling. But you're in temporary quarters now. If Jesus is your Savior, your Father is King of the whole universe—imagine that! And someday you will live with him.

In the meantime, He calls you to be his princess on the inside. Sure, maybe it's a little more of a challenge because no one sees, no one knows, no one necessarily expects you to act like the King's daughter. But that is the best triumph of all—to live like the princess you are when no one else knows, when no one sees, to live like Jesus even when it's not expected.

Frances Hodgson Burnett once said, "If I am a princess in rags and tatters, I can be a princess inside. . .It is a great deal more of a triumph to be one all the time when no one knows it."

Live for your King, your Highness. You are His princess.

Pray

My King, thank You for calling me Your own daughter. I love You.
