Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord. And you are her daughters, if you do good and do not fear anything that is frightening. — 1 Peter 3:6
Uncertainty is a certainty in this walk of faith that we have embarked upon. As the seasons and the times change, we are reminded that security can be quite illusive.
Sarah is a very interesting study. She definitely had her faith and wits tested more than once. She was barren, she would be asked to lie, she would live apart from her husband in another man’s home, and she would also spend a good deal of her life living as a wanderer. What kept this woman sane and anchored? It was her trust in the Unchanging One and her hope of eternal life. Wandering had taught her that life was a vapor and that temporal things were hardly worth the sorrow they often caused. She knew that everyone, including her husband and those closest to her, would fail her. But God would not fail her. God could not fail her.
His ways were worthy of her worship and they are worthy of our worship too. Trying times are upon us. We, like Sarah, have a choice. Will we fear or will we trust?
Loving Father, thank You for the testimony of Sarah in this verse. Help me to trust You beyond all comprehension and not fear the days ahead for You are good, loving, and gracious. Amen.
What causes you the most anxiety? Give it to Him. Only He can bear the weight of your burdens, fears, and trials. He’s got it!
