Read:

“This is what the Lord says:  The man who trusts in mankind, who makes human flesh his strength and turns his heart from the Lord is cursed.” Jeremiah 17:5 HCSB

Reflect:

Can I let you in on a little secret? We are all failures. In an era of participation trophies and political correctness, that is probably a strong statement, but there is truth to it. We may have earthly accomplishments and successes, but we are also sinners in need of grace. Paul even tells is in Romans 3:10 that there is no one who is righteous, not even one. That is liberating news, because we know that we don't have to be perfect, because Jesus was perfection in the flesh for us.

We put our faith in politicians, celebrities, and even those in the clergy, however what we have to remember is that everyone is human, everyone is a sinner, and everyone will at some point let you down if your faith is solely in them. Our faith should not be in man, especially in this anxious time for our nation, but in a sovereign God who works all things together for the good of those who love Him.  When we soak in that truth, we obtain a supernatural peace. When we put our faith in man, even ourselves, and anything else but God, we lose that peace to anxiousness and fear.  Remember to put your faith in our Heavenly Father, where it belongs, because nothing can ever compare to His divine rest.

Pray:

God I just thank you that you will never fail me or let me down.  Thank you that I have the blessed assurance of your love that will never fail.  Help me to meditate on your divine truths this week. In Your name I pray, Amen.

Your Turn:

Who do you put your faith in?

Ask God to help you to remember that your faith is in Him, not in man.
