“For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.” (Col. 2:9-10)
Not enough. Those words have echoed in the hollow places of my heart. They clung to me when I was single, but marriage didn’t make them go away. They whispered in my ear with every job I held. And oh, how loud those words grew when I had my first child. You are not enough: not good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, strong enough.
When I believed those words, I believed a lie. I am enough. And so are you.
We are not enough because of our looks, our jobs, or our innate abilities. We are made enough by God Himself. “For in Him dwells the fullness of the Godhead… and you are complete in Him.” The fullness of the Trinity – a triune perfection – dwells in Christ. He lacks nothing in power, goodness, or strength. So when He calls us to abide in Him (John 15), He’s not just commanding us to stay close. He is calling us to completeness. In Him we are enough.
Father, I trust you today when you say I am enough.
What verses will remind you that you are complete in Christ today?
