Read:

Thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him  (2 Corinthians 2:14)

Reflect:

The ability to smell is quite amazing and the ability to distinguish and have preferred smells is even more amazing. Certain scents like rain or the smell of bacon cooking almost instantly brighten the moment. On the contrary, certain scents like rotting trash or a skunk’s spray can cause instant repulsion.

Paul’s reference to our being the vessel in which God spreads the fragrance of Christ to a dying and lost world gives us a picture of the reality of our testimony. Our actions will either spread the fragrance of hope, peace, redemption, and love or they will spread the fragrance of despair, hate, jealously, and death.

As God calls us and uses us, faithful diligence is needed to keep in step with the Spirit and to moment-by-moment faithfully follow in the footsteps of the One whose fragrance we have the gift of spreading. May our actions/testimonies/fragrances point a dying world to the only One who can save.

Pray:

Lord Jesus, fill me anew today with the beauty of your fragrance and give me wisdom in how to best spread love, life, and hope to this dying world. Amen.

Your Turn:

What fragrance does your life give off?

Do you realize that as you spend more and more time in fellowship with the Lord, your life naturally emits His beautiful, life-giving aroma?
