They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. And night will be no more. They will need no light of lamp or sun, for the Lord God will be their light, and they will reign forever and ever. — Revelation 22:4-5
We love the happy endings in fairy tales. The prince rescues the fair maiden and rides off into the sunset. Good triumphs over evil. Everything works out right.
The world's definition of a happy ending can often be found on the nearest bumper sticker: "Visualize world peace." "He who dies with the most toys wins." If we're looking for a happy ending that matches a bumper sticker slogan, rest assured we will never find it.
God's version of the ultimate happy ending, however, was born through the Savior's agony on the cross. Jesus suffered and died to provide a happy ending for the sins of all people. That happy ending is coming. A place where the curse of sin is gone. A place where we will see our Savior face to face. A perfect forever.
How's that for a happily ever after?
Jesus, You are my Prince and one day we will have a happily ever after.
