For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he. — Proverbs 23:7
The thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. — Job 3:25
These two verses are amazing insights into the power of the mind.
According to Proverbs, whatever a woman thinks in her heart, that is what she will become. In other words, she is what she thinks! If she is thinking doubt in her heart, that's what she is—doubting. If she's thinking about sad things, that's is what she becomes—sad. On the other hand, if she's thinking about joyous things, she cannot help but smile. If she's thinking love, she cannot help but beam with light.
The verse from Job reveals that when a woman is fear-filled, her mind and spirit are focused on her circumstances. Instead of having her eyes on Jesus, she looks at the waves and wind around her and begins to sink. What she feared is what she is focused on and thus what she gets, what she drowns in!
It takes the same amount of energy to think of good things as it does bad. But the effect of each is very different. God would have His daughter have a heavenly mind-set—thinking of Him, His blessings, His love, and His light. For that not only brightens her outlook and day but shapes her and the world surrounding her.
Lord, help me to be more aware of what I am thinking. Keep my mind set on heavenly matters. Raise me up—mentally, emotionally, and spiritually—to You!
