Read:

“.the one who says he abides in Him ought to walk in the same manner as He walked.” 1 John 2:6

Reflect:

While in this flesh, we will never be able to completely walk in the same manner as Jesus did. But while we are on this Earth, we are to abide in Him and walk as He walked, being sanctified in the process. Abiding in Him involves every moment of our lives. The Word says we are not to be conformed to this world. Romans 12:2. It’s hard to go against the flow of what everyone else is doing, but this text exhorts us to not be conformed. It might seem silly, but sometimes I find myself singing this little well-known children’s song, below…..

O be careful little eyes what you see
O be careful little ears what you hear
O be careful little hands what you do
O be careful little feet where you go
O be careful little mouth what you say
There's a Father up above
And He's looking down in love
So, be careful little eyes.....

There's so much truth within this song. Sisters, let’s be diligent in watching over our hearts, let’s put away deceitfulness and devious speech. Let’s keep our eyes looking directly ahead to the Lord, and keep our way established. Proverbs 4:23-26. With the Lord’s help, persevering in these ways will keep us on the correct path, walking in the footsteps of Jesus Christ.

Will we fail at times? Absolutely, we all sin and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23. But we repent and receive grace, and then abiding in Him will be a joy and delight and walking as Jesus did will not seem so impossible!

Pray:

Father, we thank you for your grace. We pray that you help us be mindful of how we live our lives and with the help of the Holy Spirit; we walk in the same manner as our Lord Jesus.

Your Turn:

Jesus promises to be with us at all times and in all places, are there things in your life that would not be acceptable if the Lord was sitting right next to you?
