I have chosen the way of faithfulness; I have set my heart on your laws. - Psalm 119:30
We don't like to be lied to, but sometimes we fall for lies in spite of ourselves. It all depends on what we're looking for. If we're desperate to look younger, we'll believe anything about a special cream sold on TV. If we want quick wealth, we'll fall for the online ad with all its impossible promises.
You see, Satan plays on our weaknesses. Just as he sensed that Eve wanted to know more about God and so built his cozy chat with her around that very information, so he observes where we are most vulnerable. He's looking for ways to get us off track spiritually--even sometimes quoting God's Word--because he wants nothing more to come between us and God. If we listen, we lose.
Our best defense is intimate knowledge of the truth found in God's Word. Read it. Study it. Talk about it. Understand it.
How will you know the truth? Open God's Word. He'll gladly reveal it.
Help me, Father, to study Your Word so I know the truth.
When have you for the lies of Satan?
What was Eve's first mistake?
Why is it so important to know God's Word?
