Read:

“I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33 ESV

Reflect:

There are times I wish I knew the future. To know friends and family would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. That disease would not plague her anymore. That they build their marriage founded on the Rock. That he gets adopted. But the reality is, like everyone else, I do not know what is ahead. I know the One who holds the future though. The Bible goes a long way in helping us understand this life and even shows glimpses of the new heaven and earth awaiting those who have chosen Him as Lord and Savior. Yet as much as I want it to, it doesn’t get super specific to your life or my life. And occasionally that puts a burr under my saddle. I question His reasoning. But God’s very own Son told us this life we have chosen would be hard sometimes. Jesus reveals difficulty to guide us into peace. As an over-analyzer, I love that He explains His motive in telling us trouble is a certainty.  Confidently speaking over us, Jesus cheers us on with the reminder to keep going, setting our faces on Him. “Be brave! I have defeated the world!” John 16:33b ERV

Pray:

Father, thank You for acknowledging that some of our hearts would need to read that You got this. Whatever situations causing us to cry or jump for joy, You are completely sovereign over them. Help us rest in Your peace while giving us the opportunity to point others to You. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Your Turn:

What situation is He encouraging you to have peace over?

How can you share His peace with others today?
