More Than Routine

The King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.’ —Matthew 25:40

We make time for daily scripture reading, we say our prayers, and we continue with our day. Our time with God has been fulfilled, and we feel pretty good about our faith. Though we may have the word of God on our minds, we can get so caught up in the daily schedule that we forget to express and share the love and compassion we gain from our relationship with Christ.

Our spiritual health is so very important, but we can’t neglect the call to spread our wealth of love and the joy found in Christ with others. So much of our days are completed on autopilot. We smile and respond, but we aren’t present. We don’t see and speak with the discernment and insight our faith provides when we allow the earthly bustle to control our interactions. Every look made, every word said, and every action completed outside of our personal time is an opportunity to show God’s love to the world and show God our love through our care for others.

No one is unworthy of our time. As Christians, we all are capable of being a beautiful example of Christ’s love, and we have been given the incomparable privilege of serving as a mouthpiece of Christ. Let’s not waste it.

Open my eyes and my heart to your children, Lord. When I slip into my daily routine, remind me of the gift of your love. Give me the courage to share your blessings and the redemptive power of salvation with the world. Amen.

Your Turn:

This week, did you get the opportunity to share/talk about Christ as you went about your daily routine?

Can you remember a time when God sent a stranger to encourage you?
