No Fear in Death
“He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” Revelation 21:4 ESV
We all come face-to-face with this deep fear that cannot be brushed away at some point during our time on Earth. Death isn’t something that is spoken about in normal conversation, but it is something that happens to everyone. I don’t know about you, but the unknown and the uncertainty of death seem to always have a haunting grip on me.
Christ conquered this fear by dying on the cross on behalf of sinners like you and me. The Gospel has set us free from eternal bondage, and therefore, we can look forward to the day when there will be no more tears, no more pain, and we will see Jesus face to face.
Our sinfulness cannot fathom something as holy as Heaven, yet God sent His son to die in our place, and now there is abiding comfort. How liberating is that? We need to continue to hold tight to the Gospel—it is the only thing we can truly rest in. As Christians, we are free from the fear of death. Through Christ, we are justified. Through Christ, there is only future grace. Satan no longer has a say in our eternity. Tell everyone you love what Christ has done. Don’t waste another minute because you never know which minute will be their last. True everlasting hope lies in the arms of the One who died so that we may live.
Father, thank You for the Gospel that sets me free from eternal suffering. Thank You that I no longer fear death; instead, I look forward to the day I am with You. I pray for my friends and family who don’t know You as their Lord and Savior. Soften their hearts towards Your truth, and let me be a light in their lives.
Make it a point to preach the Gospel to someone this week. You never know how God will work through them.
