No King but Christ

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” — Isaiah 9:6 ESV

Many people will look to Hillary or Trump with the idea that their presidency will fix the problems of this world. With the election nearing, fear seems to be controlling aspects of my life in regards to the unknown. Regardless of who is elected as President in November, they will be a sinner flawed just like everyone else, unable to destroy the evil in our society.

We may not know what the future holds, or which candidate is “best fit” for the job, but there’s one thing we can stand firm on: Christ is King and always will be. My future is not in the hands of some Democrat or Republican; instead, my life is in the hands of the most sovereign God. He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. The only way to secure your life is to place your faith and trust in the One who died for you.

Be encouraged, strengthened, and hopeful as you enter the turmoil of this upcoming election. Instead of allowing fear to envelope your life, rest in the fact that Christ is King—He cannot and will not be defeated, no matter who is President.

Everlasting Father, thank you for your sovereign hand in all aspects of my life. Please give me rest in who You are and what You have done. Help me to know You are the only Savior capable of restoring a broken world.

Your Turn:

When you feel yourself getting worked up about the upcoming election, whether it’s because you see something on Facebook or when you’re watching the latest debate, stop and reflect on God’s sovereignty and how He is in control.
