Peace He Leaves with Us
“Peace I leave with you. My peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Don’t let your heart be troubled or fearful.” John 14:27
World peace has been a mantra on the lips of generations for decades. It is a goal unachievable. As long as we try to deal with evil without dealing with the evil within, we deceive ourselves. The peace the world promises has yet to deliver, and it is as fleeting as it is deceiving. Peace is not something that can be given from our wicked and darkened hearts. It is alien to who we are according to the fall.
The Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ, promised His disciples a peace that stays. He gave them peace that is everlasting and peace only He can deliver. Through His redemption, He gives all who come to Christ by grace through faith peace with God first and peace in this turmoil of a world.
The very thing the world seeks, it is blinded to in its sin. Thanks be to God that those of us in Christ are no longer blinded to the light of our own wickedness. And now we as believers point to the world who so desperately need peace with God to the only One who can give it - God Himself...for His glory and for our good.
Father God, our peace with You has been achieved in Your Son. This is a peace that is everlasting, just as You are, and help us point a dying world to the only hope it has - You. For Your glory and namesake. Amen.
