“I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living! Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” (Psalm 27:13-14)
Seasons of waiting are often depicted as doing nothing. To wait is to sit on the sidelines; to watch the world move forward until we hear God’s call to take action. But this isn’t what God means when He calls us wait for Him! True patience is an act: active faith in God’s movement and fruitful living right where we are
Waiting requires courage: Courage to look beyond present difficulty and loneliness to God’s great purpose. It is by waiting that we experience the fullness of God’s power. It is by waiting that our character is refined. And it is by waiting that we respond to God’s answers with the kind of gratitude they deserve.
If you are in a season of waiting, this is part of your journey. It’s not a roadblock to greater purpose but an integral part of your walk with God. Plant your roots. Grow strong. Take courage.
Lord, teach me to wait on you with strength and courage.
How can you live fruitfully in this season of waiting?
