Read:

Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way. He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way. — Psalm 25:8-9 ESV

Reflect:

Have you ever felt like you couldn’t measure up to the standard not only society has set for women today, but for the standard God has set for you? We all know them; the perfect moms who somehow have more done before 5:00 a.m. than we could ever think to have done in a week. If you are one of those women, bless you. However, for the rest of us who can’t manage to get a school note signed, sometimes we feel like we will never measure up. Thanks to the illusion of social media, we set our standards based on what we see portrayed around us.  Guess what ladies?  We will never measure up.  I’m so glad God doesn’t love us based on our ability to create Pinterest projects.

Psalm 25:8 tells us that God shows sinners the way, he leads the humble in what is right and teaches them His way. That a breath of fresh air to know that God never expects perfection. God isn’t afraid of our sin, the only requirement God gives is humility. When we live a life of unpretentiousness we understand that this lifetime is a process of sanctification. Jesus took care of our need for flawlessness on the cross. Our time on this earth is a process of learning, and glorifying God. Spend time in the Word, remain teachable and live loved.

Prayer:

Jesus I thank you because of what you did on the cross, perfection is not something I have to strive for.  I thank you that while I am a sinner you still died for me.  Help me to remain humble and teachable, and remember that your love always trumps approval and faultlessness.  In Your name I pray, Amen.

Your Turn:

Meditate on the truths of Psalm 25 this week.
