Small Beginnings

Read:

For who scorns the day of small things? These seven eyes of the Lord, which scan throughout the whole earth, will rejoice when they see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand. Zechariah 4:10 Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)

Reflect:

Do you ever feel like you aren't doing enough for the Kingdom of God? This used to be something I struggled with regularly. I used to feel that if I weren't leading hundreds of people to Christ daily, I wasn't good enough. If I wasn't speaking on some stage, or leading worship on a large platform, that God wouldn't appreciate the things I was doing for Him.

When I really began to ask God to examine my heart, He revealed to me that my deeds were mere filthy rags because the motivation was wrong.  Not to say they didn't have an impact, however  my intentions were centered around self instead of obedience.

God delights in the small things. The ministry of keeping your home, prayer behind closed doors and simply being sensitive to the needs of those around us are just as powerful if not more powerful than being a celebrity in the sphere of Christian culture. Many times we won't see the fruit of our labors, but God does. We have to be satisfied in that, and in Him.

It is up to God how we join Him daily as we walk upon this earth. He will call some to a large platform, and he will call others to what the world may see as small beginnings. Don't get discouraged sisters, but delight in obedience.

Pray:

God I thank you for giving me the opportunity to seek and share Your kingdom.  Thank you for your sovereignty and  the grace to be able to participate in Your plans. I love you Jesus.  In Your holy name I pray. Amen.

Your Turn:

Do you sometimes feel like the small beginnings aren't good enough?

Pray and ask God for a holy awareness to see the needs of those around you.  Ask God how you can participate in the workings of His plan daily.
