Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. — Hebrews 10:23
If you pay close attention to what's happening around you, it's easy to lose perspective. Horrors like AIDS, famine, wars, brutal dictators, oppression, and the evil that preys on the poor and powerless seem to be closing in on every side.
But one truth eclipses all the pain, suffering, and injustice. God brings light and hope to a dark, hopeless world. He is faithful and true in a world filled with selfishness and deceit. He is the one person who will never let you down.
The next time you feel like the world is closing in, look up. Keep your eyes fixed on God. That's where your hope and strength will come from.
We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed. — 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
God, I will not relinquish my hope to the evil in this world. I will trust in You. When I grow faith—and I will—strengthen me. Amen.
