The simple believes everything, but the prudent gives thought to his steps. — Proverb 14:15
We are born into a system that has automatically wired us to go with the tide of the world. In a day and age when instant gratification rules, how do we cultivate thoughtful obedience?
This proverb reminds us that the simple believe everything. For them, whatever sounds good and seems easy, rules. But the prudent, they give thought to their steps. If a decision is to be made, where would it lead? What are the implications? What is God's will concerning it?
We learn wisdom when we come to God’s Word, humble ourselves in prayer, and faithfully walk in step with the Holy Spirit. It is an art; it is a practice. It is a daily decision acknowledging that we are not the authority of our lives, instead we desperately seek direction outside of ourselves.
May we be women who are known by our wisdom, patience, love and desire to walk in the way the Lord leads. At times it will mean taking the harder and lonelier road but the reward could not be sweeter.
Being in God's will provides contentment, peace and safety and they far outweigh any struggle to get there!
Lord, lead me in the way of the everlasting. Help me to be prudent and make choices that glorify You and reflect Your lordship in my life. Amen.
Are you impulsive?
How often do you present your needs and decisions before the throne of grace and patiently wait for the Holy Spirit to guide you?
