What Your Eyes Take In

My eyes shall be upon the faithful of the land, that they may dwell with me; He who walks in a blameless way is the one who will minister to me. — Psalm 101:6

I will ponder the way that is blameless. . . I will walk with integrity of heart within my house; I will not set before my eyes anything that is worthless. — Psalm 101:20-3

Have you ever experienced that pang of longing in your heart that comes after an especially beautiful love story? Or the grumbling of your stomach after a particularly delectable cooking demonstration? These are small evidences of the effect that the things you watch, read, and listen to have on you.

Whether or not you realize it, the media you allow into your life shapes the way you think and react to situations. If you have been struggling in a particular area, the shows, the music, and books you have been partaking of may have contributed to the problem.

God wants to fill you with good things that will bring joy to your soul and strengthen your heart. Therefore, if you think he would disapprove of something that is influencing you—let it go!

God, please show me if there is anything in my life that is influencing me in a negative way. I know that you will always keep me from harm. Amen.
