“Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” — Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV
Let’s be honest, there are days, maybe even weeks, where we feel distant from God. Our hearts are saddened with little to no joy with the trials we are facing, and although we know He’s there, we can’t seem to hear His voice. Days are long. Nights are longer. And the fire we once had seems to be disappearing. Is it normal for Christians to be feeling this distant from the One who saved us?
I can guarantee you will find numerous people in your life who are going through this, too. Oftentimes, the reason we feel distant from God is because we haven’t taken time out of our day to spend it with Him. We get caught up in the busyness of life, and so many other things start to take precedence over spending quality time with our Heavenly Father.
Sisters, I encourage you to pray and study God’s word more and more each day. If you are feeling distant, run to the arms of the One who will never leave you. Embrace that even though you may be experiencing some feelings of separation, God sent His son to die for you…and that will forever be the thing that draws you closest to Him.
Father, thank you for never leaving or forsaking me. In times I feel distant, help me to know You are always with me. Take the doubt in my life and turn it into hope.
Make it a point to pray more this week. Spend 15 minutes each day in God’s word. Dwell on the fact God has never abandoned you, nor will he ever abandon you.
