Why Jesus?

Jesus said to him, “I am the Way, and the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6 ESV)

“What makes your God, this Jesus, any different?” she asked. She wasn’t speaking out of spite or aggression. She simply wanted to know, out of the gods she had been introduced to by her family, friends and culture, why was this Jesus any different? Why would one choose Jesus?
For being the Son of the Breather of Stars, at first glance, some might consider Jesus fairly unimpressive. And yet, He was anything but. He came not to be served, but to serve. We know how Jesus lived. His life demonstrated sovereignty over disease, the laws of nature and society, principalities and powers, all for the glory of His Father. We know how He died. Christ willingly chose a path of separation from God to redeem us through death on a cross. Only His sacrifice could heal us. We know He lives again. He appeared to hundreds of witnesses days after dying who proclaimed what they experienced. We know He lived, died, and He rose again. Jesus is different because He is alive today. “I know you’re looking for Jesus, the One they nailed to the cross. He is not here. He was raised, just as He said.” (Matthew 28:6 MSG)

Father, thank You for giving us an opportunity to be in a relationship with You because of Jesus. You didn’t have to send Your only Son and Jesus didn’t have to sacrifice Himself. And yet both of You gave so that I might be redeemed and made whole. I am in awe of You. Amen.

Your Turn:

Spend a few moments thanking Him in your own way for redeeming you.

How would you explain to someone why you chose Jesus?
