A man’s heart plans his way, but the Lord determines his steps. Proverbs 16:9 HCSB
Do you ever feel like you aren’t doing enough for the Kingdom of God? Do you ever feel like what you do doesn’t matter because you aren’t serving in complete vocational ministry? I’ve heard many women say things like, “I’m just a stay at home mom”, or “I’m just a cashier.” Struggling with these things is common, but the truth is, we are call called to ministry, no matter what vocation God has chosen to place us in. We are all soldiers on the spiritual battlefield, and if our only mission field is limited to the church walls, we find ourselves completely missing our calling.
With so many high school graduations happening, I find myself frequently reflecting on where I thought I would be at this point in my life. I think, of all the things I thought I would be doing, living back in my small hometown was not one of them. God, however, in His grace and sovereignty chose to bring me back here, and the mission field here is no less important than if I was living in a small remote village on the other side of the world.
God asks us to seek Him, and be faithful in the vocations, the communities, and the situations He places us in. You are gifted uniquely, and because of that, God will use you and your gifts and talents distinctively. God has blessed me with the opportunity to teach and mold my own child through the gift of motherhood, as well as serve in local ministry. Ministry is wherever you are, don’t ever think you aren’t good enough or what you are doing isn’t worthy of God’s calling. Be faithful, seek God, live gratuitously, and trust in His sovereignty.
God, I thank you that you determine my steps, and I am able to serve you each and every day. When I get discouraged Father, gently remind me that you have placed me where I am at, for Your Glory and help me to be faithful and obedient. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
Ask God today how you can serve Him where you are at.
Praise God for placing you where you are.
