My soul thirsts for God, for the living God. When shall I come and appear before God? — Psalm 42:2
You cannot seem to fill that uneasy longing within. You go shopping, but it doesn't help. You eat something delicious, but that does not satisfy you either. You try socializing more to fill the emptiness, but soon you find that doesn't do it either.
It isn't you body, heart, or stomach that is crying out, it is your soul. It is the part of you that requires spiritual growth and refreshment. Friend, you need God. You need God more than you need food, clothing, sunshine, or shelter. Your Creator satisfies your yearning for purpose, worth, and eternity, teaching you his insight and inspiring you with his presence.
Neither the spoon nor the credit card can help you, but prayer and reading His Word can. So do not ignore this crucial need. Your thirst is for God. Drink and be filled.
The Lord will send His faithful love by day; His song will be with me in the night—a prayer to the God of my life. — Psalm 42:8
God, thank You for satisfying the deep needs of my soul—for inspiring me with Your purpose and refreshing me with Your presence. You truly fill me with joy. Amen.
